She drew the flower that started the power is a continuation of my solo exhibition of paintings in 2023 entitled Mother/Nature, which reflected on my new identity as a mother and the hopes (and fears) I have for my very own flower, my daughter Daphne.
The world has become a complex place to navigate post-pandemic, more so in the last couple of years of changing governments, the rise of AI, and wars and occupations, particularly in Gaza. As a mother and a teacher, I often ponder what the world will look like for our young people and I try to remain optimistic.
This series of works, using a range of embroidery practices, is an act of passive resistance. I offer the flower as a repeating motif of hope, and as a universal symbol of peace.
Opening Saturday 16th August at 1.30pm with an artist talk, then continues till 4pm.
All welcome.
