Established in 1986, Masterworks offers a professional venue specialising in contemporary craft/mahi toi and an opportunity for visitors to experience the excellence of the handmade from New Zealand’s talented artists from Aotearoa.

Eloise Kitson and Christine Hedlund (a mother and daughter team), along with our enthusiastic staff, work to delight and educate our audience by evolving the gallery’s focus on ceramics, glass, textiles and jewellery and to develop a gallery to reflect the continuing changes in the contemporary craft.

By developing new approaches, we are blurring the line between public and private spaces that is a 21st century reality through promoting the skills of creative hands in partnership with an awareness of the changing technological environment of today. We see the fusion of creative minds with creative skills as a stimulating dialogue for excellence.

We aim to continue the gallery’s history of building enduring relationships with both artists and clients alike.
