Crowns and cake tins…. both rich with meaning and memories.
Crowns remind us of treasure, they allude to authority and excellence. They reference our cultural experience from childhood fantasy to colonial repression.
Crowns can be worn by women just as well as men.
Cake tins hide deliciousness. Behind the weirdly irrelevant exterior images of roses, corgis and the queens family are treasured sweet treats.
The combination of the crown and the cake tin is here, a badge of recognition for the ‘Queen of the Bake-off’.
